The Wyeth Hardware and Manufacturing Company was founded in 1859 by William Maxwell Wyeth (1832-1901). Under the leadership of his son, Huston Wyeth, the company grew and branched out into ice and cold storage. The Wyeths were certainly an industrious bunch: William Maxwell's brothers, John and Frank, founded the Wyeth Pharmaceutical Company, which was purchased by Pfizer in 2009.
The circular medal measures 69.8mm in diameter and was struck in bronze by the Medallic Art Company of New York.
